UC Migration letter was created by Lorraine
Got the dreaded migrate letter today.

Sorry for long post, I am so stressed.

Need to claim by 11 June, my last ESA is due 5th June so I believe it’s good to apply just after that?

I also get full HB and CTB.
When is the best date to contact the council?

I want to ask for the council to be paid direct, due to my anxiety and being in arrears in the past when I paid rent.

I have read that some councils aren't making people pay the 3 weeks. If you tell them that it will be showing as arrears but it is getting paid direct to them each month for the weeks leading up to end of month?

Also am I correct that you can start filling in online and save and then come back before sending the whole completed form?

I am disabled and can’t work, and in support group so need to make sure they apply reg 19 and I also don’t paid bedroom tax, due to having a carer stay when required. Do I write this in the payment section, and can I do this when I first apply or do I have to wait until my account it up and running?

I have also seen that someone stated
After you have applied for UC leave a message on your journal. When it asks you what it's about select 'a payment'
Tell them that you are in receipt of Enhanced PIP and they you need the additional bedroom entitlement because you have a non resident carer that stays overnight when required.
Can I put this in when I first apply or do I have to wait until up and running?

Also my adult daughter lives with me we both get enhanced PIP, where do I put this as this means I will have no deductions to my rent?

Any advice would be really appreciated, so worried 😟

Thank you for your time.

Good luck to anyone else going through the migration 🤞

Hi Lorraine

Have you thought about using the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service. Their phone number is on page 2 of your Managed Migration letter. Here is a recommendation from a Forum member-
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...aged-migration-to-uc

You can ask Help to Claim to arrange a Managed Payment to your landlord.

Once you have created your UC account you have 28 days to submit the completed form and you can save it and return over those 28 days.

You can inform Help to Claim about the overnight carer and ask them to request an exemption from the Bedroom Tax.

UC should assess you and your daughter as exempt from a Non Dependent Deduction ( UC Housing Cost Contribution ) as you say due to the PIP.

Thank you.

Please can you explain what the help to claim part is?

Also I have seen something about a complex need coach.
Can you please explain this in simple terms, and let me know what the pros and cons to asking for this are please? And if I decide to ask for this help where and when do i put this in my application?

Hi Lorraine

I think you would be advised to get personally tailored advice looking at your whole situation. This is something the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service attempts to do. Have you read the recommendation post from VIA?
You can phone them and their number is on page 2 of your Managed Migration letter. They will explain what they do and not pressurize you to complete your UC application with them.

Thank you.

Our local CAB are not great, so don’t want to involve them, looking to find info on the complex need coach?

Not sure what recommend post by VIA is, sorry?
