ESA migration to UC - should i claim carers allowance

I have received my migration notice from ESA to UC. I have until 13 June to apply. I currently receive income based ESA with the disability premium. I look after my mum who is 84 and has dementia. She receives the higher rate attendance allowance. She does not currently live with me but i visit each day for several hours. My previous application for CA was rejected apparently because of a benefit cap. When I apply for UC should i tick the box that asks if i care for someone? I dont want to make my application anymore complicated that it needs to be so if I am not eligible I will not try to apply. My mortgage repayments are doubling at the same time as this application is going through and my anxiety is through the roof. I am dreading the process after reading some horror stories about being left with no money or being paid considerably less than I am now on. I would be so grateful for any advice. Thank you

Hi welshgirl123

I would wait until after the Benefits Uprating and apply in mid April. Have you thought about using the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service. They have a Transitional Protection calculator.
Their phone number is on page 2 of your Migration letter. Here is a recommendation from our Forum member VIA-
