irESA to UC : 6 Managed migration questions

Hi - i've done a search and noted it seems ok to request several questions on a specific guide. If not let me know.

This is for long term sick (30 yrs+) , support group, irESA to UC : Managed migration notice dated 6-3-25

1. When does the 1 month assessment period start ? Is it the moment you create a UC account ? or the moment you start your UC application ? or the moment you click submit and send your UC application in ?
2. On submitting evidence: I'm confused re: pros/cons of submitting updated medical evidence, given my ESA hasn't been re-assessed since 2019. What's a good rule of thumb, where the managed migration UC application form doesn't ask for evidence ? On one hand i don't want to trigger re-assessment. On the other, my treatment/condition remains the same level. It would be just more recent medical paper-work. Would submitting it help in any way or is it redundant ?
3. In the income and earnings to do list section , do i need to itemise permitted work incomes if they are within the work allowance limit ? (Typically it's non PAYE, under £100 bi-monthly and never enough to be subject to tax.) I don't want the system to get confused by thnking i'm itemising over the work allowance wages. There's no mention about how to treat the former.
4. At what stage specifically should i notify the social housing landlord and Council Tax that i have applied for UC ?
5. What are the grounds for requesting direct rent payment to social housing landlord ? It's not entirely clear how to approach this request.
6. My ESA has always stipulated support group placement successfully using evidence and argument due to substantial risk. How best to/where do i migrate this into the UC application ?
7. This question may be too early - but, using the info above, do current reforms suggest i will be placed in the LCWRA group and no longer be subject to any WCA, except for a CoC ? Would i also recieve the proposed extra top-up premium for those never able to work ?

cheers - appreciated. twzzz

Hi twinkerzz

To try and answer your 7 questions...

1. The 1 month assessment period starts from when you submit your new UC claim.

2. You don't need to submit evidence with the UC Managed Migration.;

3. There is no such thing as Permitted Work with UC so you have to inform them of all income.

4. Wait until the day you have received your first UC payment.

5. This is known as an APA ( alternative payment arrangement ) and here is the DWP guidance-
data.parliament.uk/DepositedPapers/Files...rangements_V32.0.pdf

6. You don't need to mention " substantial risk " at all in the UC migration application.

7. I have just been reading the green paper and eventually everybody is going to have to attend the Jobcentre for a discussion regarding work apart from those with designated life long conditions. For further updates keep an eye on the Benefitsandwork News section.

Replied by twinkerzzz on topic irESA to UC : 6 Managed migration questions
thanks for answers above...

To clarifications to ask:
re: answer 3 - are you saying i need to itemise recent wages even where they are below the UC work allowance threshold in the uc migration application form ?
re: answer 6: 'substantial risk' - i was thinking this might be required to mention when requesting / arguing for direct rent payments to landlord and things like online or phone contact as prefs for online id verification over job centre/outdoor visits. If so, and if not would it help to upload medical docs which support such requests anyways ? Or has this kind of option set become normalised now ?

thanks again

Hi twinkerzzz

3. Yes you need to declare income even if its below the UC work allowance

6. The link that I sent you regarding the APA states what evidence you need to supply for what is called a Managed Payment to a landlord, " When can a Managed Payment to a Landlord be Requested".
