ESA Support Group was created by Simon
Hi all. First time I've posted so thanks for reading.
My wife is in receipt of ESA Support Group and has a very small pension that she wants to exercise and withdraw the whole lump sum, around 13k.
Her concern is that this may detrimentally affect her ESA payment.
If she withdraws this lump sum she won't be in receipt of a pension as well.
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Simon
First you need to phone the ESA department and find out for sure if you are getting Income Based ESA. Also in the future will your total savings go over £16,000?

Yes phone them up and find out. You should have had a letter from dwp recently about increases to esa so it may be on that letter. Assuming you are on income related, think very carefully about how if you did get a lump sum you would spend it and how quickly because you could be found to be deliberately reducing your savings to get back on esa, and not get it back when you have depleted your savings and need it.
