Asking for more time to fill in a review form was created by Webbs
My 10 year pip award ends in feb 26 so I think I will get a review form soon. The thing is I’m nearly 70 and now have a lot more wrong with me than I did ten years ago ie prostate cancer but the question I’m asking is ,i have been invited to stay with friends for a couple of weeks in April . Haven’t hardly left the house for months except for hospital visits and I’m worrying if the form arrives while I’m away will I be able to ask for an extension and is it even safe to ring the dwp?

Hi Webbs,
You can normally ask for a 2 week extension after receiving the letter, if this happens to you whilst you are away.
I would just say something like it was delivered incorrectly to a neighbour who's been away and they've only just gave it to you - then that way, it's kinda Royal Mails fault, and no one's none the wiser.

Thanks for that Chris but I would then be worried they’d want proof and my neighbours wouldn’t be helpful (wonder if I should just tell the truth?). Hopefully it won’t come next month. Could I ask one more question?im on higher rates of both care and mobility although I don’t suppose that makes any difference but could I get the light touch review?

Hi Webbs,
I've read some posts that if you go away, then they ask why you didn't inform them - hence why I said what I did above, however it is your choice what you feel is best. I totally understand why you'd be scared - but how do you give proof that you didn't receive a letter for a few weeks ?
I think the LTR are for people who they don't expect their condition will improve within the next 10 years. Not sure if this applies to you or not - I think it's usually up to the medical experts to decide whether this is the case or not.
Chris.
