Requesting visit from the DWP to help with managed migration?

i spoke with the cab about my migration from esa to uc, they said that it is best to do this online, and get a friend to help me. Otherwise they will help with a 3-way telephone claim.

I'd prefer to do the online claim as easier in the long run and once you start a telephone claim you cannot then use the online one. My friend is not brilliant with macs (which is what i have) and doesn't have any knowledge of benefits, so thinks this will be easy.

I have problems with fine motor movement and tremor so it is difficult to type but not impossible, depends how bad my fatigue, tremor, fine motor movement and cognition is on any given day. Another advice service told me that i can go to a CAB local office. But this was not mentioned with i spoke to the national CAB. So i'm wondering if local cab provides this help or if i should ask the DWP to visit my home for help.

I don't know if they will but before i contact them i'm just wondering if anyone has experience of this and what are the good and bad points of this?

Hi Fio

I thought I would add that you can go to your local Jobcentre. They have customer computers that you can use to make your new UC claim and you can get assistance from a member of staff.

Thanks David, unfortunately that's probably even more fatiguing than going to the cab, i have secondary progressive multiple sclerosis with a high EDSS. But i really wan to check if local cabs help with the migration online or only telephone ones, and failing that if anyone has experience of requesting a home visit from the DWP for this.

Hi Fio

I have heard of good feedback relating to DWP Home Visits and maybe forum members can update you.

@Fio
A family member had a DWP visiting officer to help with applying for PIP.
The chap was very nice, and could Immediately see they needed the help.
It all went smoothly. I suggest you ask for a DWP visiting officer to help you apply.
Good luck
