Impending Open Banking requirement was created by winterchild
I see from a Youtube video that a Bill going through Parliament will soon allow the DWP to demand ongoing access to any benefit claimants' bank accounts by requiring them to agree to an Open Banking arrangement, or else by submitting Bank Statements.
I am wondering if this would also apply to a DWP appointee, into whose account benefit money is paid on behalf of a claimant who herself is too learning disabled to have her own bank account.

Hi winterchild,
I think I remember reading this, and they were focusing on everyone, so I would imagine so. Something to do with picking up on fraud. Classic Big Brother!

Is it only for UC, or is it for PIP and ESA. I thought it was to check savings amounts over £6000 on UC. Savings and earning don't effect PIP or ESA. All could think if they checked PIP or ESA to check you haven't been out of the country too much. I don't trust this or any government.

Hi,
I've only ever known it to be for UC, and that's correct - in relation to the savings and being over the threshold.
Chris.
