Cognition for the activity- PIP was created by Aussie1
Hi there
I am in the process of Mandatory Reconsideration for my PIP review. The following statement has been cut and pasted on the majority of my activities in the PA4 by the Health Professional. Please can anyone offer advice and guidance on how to dismiss this argument please for any of the descriptors. My conditions are Long Covid 5yrs (fatigue pain and brain fog main), bowel issues and chronic migraines:
'Although difficulties with memory/cognition are reported, the SOH shows she works part-time and drives 1 x weekly to office indicating good cognition for this activity and good grip to use aids'
Any help around the work argument would be very appreciated. I can only manage part-time and need quiet to be able to speak to people and tasks take me far longer. Thanks

Hi Aussie1
This is not an easy one. You are allowed to drive and you are allowed to work with PIP but they are two of the areas that assessors love to go after.
You can argue that just because you know the route to work, that doesn't mean that you don't have any issues with cognition for the majority of the time.
You need to emphasise that since contracting long COVID, you are no longer able to perform tasks reliably as you once were. The fact that you need quiet and tasks take you longer is an issue. Check what the Guide to PIP claims and reviews says about people being able to perform tasks reliably - page 17 and use that in your argument.
There is a post about PIP and driving that might help. benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-esa-...8543-pip-and-driving. Just be very careful when arguing about driving. The DWP has been known when people put in for an MR and tell the DWP that if the person is ill as they say they are they should not be driving and the claimant then lost their licence. You obviously can't avoid it because the assessor has used it for cut and paste, but focus more on the fact that you don't drive the majority of the time, and the many issues like pain, bowel issues, migraine and fatigue are debilitating.
Did you look at the Supplementary Guide for Long Covid - just to make sure that you haven't missed anything that you need to emphasise? benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
