Calculator discrepancy question ESA-UC migration

Please can I ask a question. Prior to managed migration from ESA-UC, I did the correct thing I had read about, and obtained two benefits calculations, from both the ‘turn 2 us’ website, and the UC Help to Claim phone line.

I gave all the correct details, (a simple set of figures) and received benefits calculations from both organisations of the same (albeit estimated) amount. Ie, for what I would expect to receive when migrating to UC (from ESA support group).

After migration, and receiving the payment letter, there is a discrepancy between the benefit calculator outcome and the actual payment. The Citizens Advice Bureau have looked at it for me and confirmed there is a discrepancy but cannot explain why. I have contacted UC about this and had a very unhelpful response, of ‘no further explanation can be given as to why’ and that the ‘benefits calculator is wrong and needs to be removed’.

Please can you offer any advice about this? Discrepancy of exactly £25 per month between the calculator figure and the final figure. There seems to be no way to query it and I have reached a dead end with this. Thanks

Hi Twentyfold

I'm sorry, but your question is outside the remit of this forum. I don't know why there might be a discrepancy between the calculator and what you have received. Unfortunately, if the DWP won't provide you with an answer, I don't know what else to suggest, but to put in a complaint and see if you get a different response. I suspect the answer could be the same and that benefit calculators are not 100% accurate and only approximate what a person might receive.
