Reminder Migration Notice was created by peggy2
Hi I am so happy Benefits and Work are still here with forum help, guidance. I desperately need some guidance and help.
I am currently recovering from a bad fall, resulting in major surgery and along side my ongoing disabilities and caring responsibilities for my severely chronically ill disabled partner.
Part way through my own rehabilitation and trying to get more care support in place which is a stressful journey in itself on top of both our ongoing weekly medical hosp appts we have now received Reminders -
Universal Credit Migration Notice I also received a phone call yesterday from DWP
During the phone call the man at the dwp said the claim had to be made by the end of the month. He also advised that a Complex Care Team would contact us but could give me no number to contact that team for help within the dwp.
I suppose my questions are:-
1. As anyone had a call from the DWP Complex Care Team to help them through the Migration Notice ?
Is there any telephone number or address for that department?
2. In a situation such as ours chronic disabilities and the ESA is made up with both contribution based / then I think a couples esa income based and carer premium and support groups. I have always been told we are contribution based /income based ESA.
Can the dwp just stop the contribution based part of esa benefits if you dont claim by the Migration deadline date. In our case the letter says Univeral Credit Migration notice is claim by 1st Oct?
3. I dont really understand how to get the Transition protection does that have to be done by the CAB helpline 08001448444
We have alot going on at the moment as my partner has recently been cancer fast tracked for neck ct scans due to lessions. Hes also under a specialist diabetic team trying to save his severely damaged and chronic ulcerated diabetic foot. Hes had a few bad falls and they've recently found small fracture and damage in his lower discs. He has life limiting chronic and Complex co morbilities which have only got harder to cope with.
I think thats whats difficult trying to cope with what dwp need in-between a number of medical appts. My partner is also Dyslexic and unable to cope with any form filling.
Who do we ask for more time and how we'd be get transitional protection.
It has made me feel so overwhelmed I have felt like I seriously cannot cope. I have remembered to look here for help as I do feel overwhelmed with having to go through another dwp process and what feels like a threat our money will stop.
Any advice will be very much appreciated
Thankyou

Hi peggy2
I am not aware of contact details for the Complex Care team.
If you only wish to claim UC I would wait until after Migration and then phone ESA and ask them to close your New Style ESA claim. But make sure you get professional advice that you are doing the right thing first.
Your Transitional Element is calculated for you by the DWP and will be given on your UC statement.
Let me know how you get on.
