Hi Ranald;IHi Tommo
Being on DLA and being disabled doesn't entitle us to special treatment mate, my reason for ending up in that situation was divorce but it could have easily been because of my disability or unemployment, whatever.
If you as a home owner apply for social housing then obviously you would be considered to be in less need than someone who was homeless or just been released from prison etc.
The system prioritises based on an individuals current needs and those who are already housed are not top priority but if you were to lose that house then it is a different matter.

You can claim Income Support Mortgage Interest (ISMI) payments for 2 years if you are in receipt of benefits.
The law changed in January 2009, before that date there was no time limit on your claim. My ex received ISMI for her half of the mortgage interest when we separated prior to the house being sold.

Hi all
I am getting to the stage where i dont really care whether my home is repossessed or i make myself bancrupt!!! I am going to look at other options 1st as i have always had a good credit rate, i have a credit card that i pay off each month and i dont have any other loans except my mortgage. All these years that i have worked and paid my NI and Tax and when i need help from the system its not there.
I am really hoping that there may be other help out there, failing that i will take advice and go with that. If i become homeless lets see what the media have to say, they will jump on it as i wouldnt cope with my disability out on the streets. Maybe this is what it needs although i would rather not be the gineau pig!!!!
Mm

Hi mm
Was in a bad place few years ago when i left my husband and home, long story so wont bore you with it. I was very fortunate in that the local authority gave me a flat, although its not big or grand, it is a place that feels comfortable, peaceful and a real home where i feel safe and secure. Sometimes things have a funny way of working out.
Not easy i know but try not to worry, I was thinking of you today and hope you got some good advice, can only say i know how it feels to worry about having a roof over your head. Lots of best wishes to you and take care of yourself

Hi Carole
Thank you for your message. I have had an appointment with my local Link today the lady was very helpful and has given me a number to call and a contact name at the housing advice team. For once my disability has gone in my favour as i dont have to be homeless to be eligable. I am ringing the housing advice team 1st thing in the morning and apparantly they come out to see me and help me from start to finish! I will post as soon as i know anything, but i do feel so much better about the whole situation.
