Advice on how to explain to my GP was created by flo1
I'm going to write to my GP to explain to her about how difficult it's going to be at my next review for benefit. (My review was due last week but I've heard nothing yet and understand they are behind a few months with claims). My GP is supportive in my ongoing claim but is still under the impression that the government are only targetting the 'scroungers'. I need to make it clear to her just exactly how bad it is. I thought it'd be best to enclose a copy of something that gets to the heart of the problem and explains it all simply - can someone suggest where I can download and print off the best explanation please?

Hi flo.
I think you would be better served by writing down how your disabilities are effecting your day to day life rather that trying to change your GP's view on benefit reform.

Your GP will be able to support your claim to ESA based on medical evidence presented and it really doesn't matter what their view is on scroungers.

excellent idea, proactive and straightforward. I'd agree with ther other poster not a lot of point in
waxing lyrical on welfare reform with the GP, but explaining the problems you have and how theyvb relate to your assessment is a way of indicatingh how they can helpn you

GP's like society as a whole, are not a homogenous group and they vary widely on welfare reform. No doubt they have some patients who they would consider will be terribly damaged if found fit to work and others who might actually benefit from work related activity

But they have a duty to their patients and if you have medical details they can confirm and qauntify then they will probably do that. Anyone whose GP will not help them (within reason) ought to see a different GP in the practice and otherwise find a new GP

Thanks, both, for your replies. My GP reassures me I will be fine but I'm not so easily reassured, given the current climate.
