Just a quick update, I had help filling in my paper work by a really helpful disability advisor.

I posted the form out on the 1st Jun and have just received a call (21st jun)from Atos to make an appointment for a medical which will be in 2 weeks time.

Well the day for my medical arrived and 2hrs before it was due I got a phonecall saying due to a problem of thiers they needed to cancel the appointment. That was nearly two weeks ago and I still have heard nothing more. Now I am unsure as to if I should phone them to see what is happening.

The danger might be if they have sent an appointment (or claim it was sent) and there is no response from you.
I would suggest you write to your DWP office, and send recorded delivery asking what is happening

Normally, Id say never encourage a medical to be arranged, but where there is a possibility of being accused (howeveer small) of not attending a medical (that you werent told had been arranged) then I'd play safe and show yourself to be the conscientious and concerned claimant

SInce the transfer process has started, there is no going back so I would recommend that you contact ATOS for an update, as they are responsible for the booking and operation of the medicals.

I had my medical today. I was a bit surprised that it only took 20mns and i wasnt really asked much. The examiner was a Dr, he was very polite and respectful. He asked me a few questions on my medical history, checked my meds then did a peak flow and took my heart rate.He then wrote for about 10mins (there was no pc) and said thank you and that the DWP would get in touch. He didnt ask me about two further conditions ( I asked him and he said he had made a note from my records) I had, or any lifestyle questions. So I guess i shall wait and see.

Hi AMW,

Did the ATOS Dr, tell you what your peak flow was, did he use a Wright scale hand held meter, or an EU one, the EU one has a yellow scale on it, Wright is black and white, there is a difference in readings obtained from either.

Just been checking back on this thread, I stated GMC Breathlessness Scale, should have said MRC, (Medical Research Council).

Hope you get the right result, my partner is a long time Severe COPD sufferer.

good luck

bro58.
