Appeal or re-apply for DLA?

One more thing Gordon -
Should I go to my GP and ask him to write another letter for me to send with this appeal/reconsideration? Is that advisable?

I don't know what he wrote when the DWP contacted him - although I know he was in favour of my application.

I too have fibromyalgia and I applied for dla back in sept and was turned down. I went for appeal but as of now I still haven,t got a date. After speaking to welfare rights they suggested that I still carry on with my appeal but to also apply again as since I first applied I have got worse. So 2 weeks ago after looking into things fully I applied again. Even if I do get it this time it will only be dated from june and the appeal will still go ahead for the claim from sept to june. Hope this helps but don,t give up.

I took Gordon's advice and contacted DWP for a copy of their decision. Guy on the phone was very helpful (I was surprised to be honest). He said letter would be 10-14 days in coming, and as I decided on the call to Register for Reconsideration also, I will have 6 weeks from the refusal letter date to gather further evidence for my claim. He said it will go to a different Decision Maker.
He is also sending the GL24 for me to make a decision about Appeal. When I see the reasons for their refusal, I will decide whether the go to Appeal or start a fresh claim. But I will def go through the Reconsideration process. Told it will take 10-12 weeks.

I think the fight is a tough one for those of us who have Fibromylagia/CFS/ME, but, having read some posts on this forum (Soozie being one) it can be successful IF you make a solid case backed by lots of evidence (which I failed to do in my inital claim - I did not know of this site then - drat).
I will put everything I can together for the Reconsideration, and keep my fingers crossed.
The next fence to face will be the IB to ESA... oh God, how do they ever expect us to be able to concentrate on getting well when they insist on throwing constant stress at us? - and the Doctor's advice is 'avoid stress'.

Oh - and I contacted GP's secretary for a copy of his letter to DWP, she said they don't keep copies!
Then she suggested she would contact DWP and ask them to send a copy of his letter to me - interested to see if that ever happens!
