I did comment on this subject before. It does seem an attempt to rush people into mistakes.
Preparation and working through guides at your own pace and still meet the deadline.
The letter is normal practice.

Hi Greeneyedlad

Only the DWP and their contractors can be stupid enough to send letters stating that they urgently need a reply in two weeks!

As Towser says it is normal practice but it does cause claimants unnecessary alarm. See the thread below.

I also felt a bit alarmed initially when I got this letter (who doesn't feel alarmed by a letter from Atos? ) but, to be fair, if they didn't send out the reminder people would probably complain that they weren't doing enough to support claimants with memory/concentration/planning etc issues. Maybe it just needs rewording.

(That idea sounded completely rational when I first thought of it, but now that I've written it, and remembered that Atos have not even provided basic accessibility to a lot of their centres for people with physical health issues, it sounds completely silly. Or perhaps just over-optimistic).

They're not worried about claimants with memory problems. The main reason for the letter is that they cannot legally stop your benefit for failing to return the form unless they gave you six weeks notice plus a reminder after four weeks.

The Regs doesn't prevent them from sending you a letter telling you to drop dead, provided it reminds you to send back the form!
