hi all i have been on incapacity for 12 years i was exempt from the pca test i only ever had one in the 12 years ive been on incapacity benefit,i have now received the letter to move me onto esa .i have looked at all the guides an i will no longer be exempt, but i have just been diagnosed with breast cancer 2 weeks ago am awaitin op and treatment.will i now be exempt because of the breast cancer or will i still have to have the dreaded medical.can someone please advise me as im so worried .thanks pam
Page 15 of the Understanding ESA guide shows the possible exemptions. Depending on the nature of your treatment it's possible that you could be exempt.
If not, you may still avoid the medical if you can provide enough evidence in your ESA50 and supporting medical evidence for a decision maker to decide from the paperwork alone.
