Hi everyone
New to this so its all a bit of a mystery yet.
Also feeling very anxious about what to do regards appealing a turn down on my application to move from low rate mobility which I get, to high rate mobility.
Just phoned them and said that I want to appeal however, I feel a bit sick at the thought of it now.
Don't know really where to begin with all this,as also something very strange happened during my assessment process which has really unnerved me!
Support would be really good thanks.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi,
Just to remind you, that if your intention is to appeal, then you must complete and return a GL24 Appeal form within 4 weeks of your DLA Decision date.
Notifying the DWP by phone or letter will normally only result in a Reconsideration.

They told me that I don't get a form that what I do is write a letter telling them why I want them to reconsider the decision?
Thanks

Replied by susan5050 on topic Revision of a decision lette rather than an appeal
I have looked at the appeals process documentation on here again,I thought as it was talking about clients it did'nt apply to me.
However, if I am right I think I adapt it to suit my personal needs. It looks like an appeal is a different thing to a revision.
Sorry I am not sure how I address these posts if I should address it to the person who replied or just reply as I have now. I am aware that it is not fair to send all my communication to a particular person.
Please all bear with me until I become used to this, thanks.

A Reconsidertion typically takes 11-13 weeks and if the original Decision is not overturned you can still appeal, providing you do so within four weeks.
If you appeal, then the DWP will carry out a Reconsideration as above, if they fail to overturn the Decision, they will submit your file to the Tribunal Servcice for an Appeal.
You can download a GL24 form from here or pick up a copy from your local JCP or CAB office.
Hope this explains it.

PS. Welcome to the forums
A Reconsideration is carried out by another DWP Decision Maker, they will will review all of the evidence previously submitted and any new evidence you are able to submit in the next week or two. The turnover rate for a Reconsideration is low although some Members have been successful after they have submitted additional, significant, evidence in support of their condition.Gordon
