Is it wrth submitting old medical evidence?

Hi there,
I'm got an appeal coming up next Monday and I'm worried about the quality of the medical report my doctor has provided. He has referred to a letter he asked me to send him and said he agrees with what I have said and supports my application, but not actually described my problems himself.

I was wondering if it is worth submitting a doctors report from a previous appeal or old specialist letters to further support the evidence? Or is it all irrelevant now?

Thanks
Jen

I believe all medical evidence is relevant. Any that is not can be disregarded by the Tribunal.

Hi Vivacia, I used old consultant letters at appeal and they were very useful!

Best wishes,
Rachel

You don't say whether you have submitted these as evidence to the Tribunal Service yet, if you have, the following may be moot.

The primary issue with the doctors letter you refer to, is that the Tribunal may assume that the words are not your GPs, and therefore carry no weight.

The other reports, although older, may support what is in the GPs letters, in which case this may not be an issue. Conversely they may not.

Ultimately, we cannot advise you whether you should or should not add these reports to your evidence, if you have an advisor they may be able to help, otherwise, this is a decision you must make yourself.

Hi,

Recently I supplied letters from Hospital Consultants and Specialists which were 4 years old, because my condition was known, and described as being, degenerative.

However, my application was refused and the DM had circled (with a marker pen) the dates on all the letters I supplied suggesting (in my mind) that they had been ignored due to the dates.

I would send everything if it were me because when I was subsequently given an ATOS medical the EMP noted and agreed with the verdicts in the 4 year old hospital letters.

Good luck, hope this helps ;)

Bill
