Medical records

I was told that if the DM needs medical evidence they will obtain it at their cost, not mine. I should be getting a call in about a week from the DM (so I'm told) to go through any further information they may need and if they request medical reports Im to give them permission to obtain them.

It is neccessary under those circumstances to obtain your own records, at your own cost. These can then be used at tribunal.

Just thought I would post this as I keep reading about the cost of obtaining a copy of medical records. I just recieved a call from the appeals dept (I appealed against ESA decision) after chasing them up.

I have an appoitment at my surgery next Tuesday to go through my medical records and photocopy anything that I think or see which is relevant to my appeal.
My advice is to do the same I would not depend on anyone obtaining them, at least you know yourself that they will be there for the appeal

I did point out to him that what he was saying didn't ring true about the DWP obtaining copies of medical records, that in the past year I have never been asked to supply it so will see if what he said, does actually happen. I did tell him that no way can I afford £50 to get a copy, Im single and only have £67,50pw to live on so it's out of the question so will see what happens when (if) they call me back.

Anne

It may be worth asking the admin at the surgery. I know I got 14 or 15 years worth and it was under £20 (sorry I can't remember exactly).
You maybe could ask for specific dates, or specific letters to and from specialists?
It was definately worth it for me as letters contradicted what the Atos nurse had written.
Best wishes,
Rachel
