Gordon,

You advice is very much appreciated.

My wifes condition (Ulcerative Colitis), means that at least once a week she experiences:
(a) loss of control leading to extensive evacuation of the bowel, sufficient to require the individual to clean herself and change clothing.

By placing her in the WRAG, are the DWP implying that at some stage she will be able to return to work - certainly at the present and I suspect for the forseeable future (she has suffered from this for some 10 years), she would not be able to.

Would it be advisable to consider an Appeal to be placed into the Support Group or is it the case that with the WRAG you are faced with Interviews etc., and with the Support group, that is not the case.

Thanks again.

of course you need expert advise but your right they do expect in most cases of the problems your wife has for much of the time for her to be ok/better/not too ill

read this from dwp site, this is what the DM would have

I have not had the pleasure of experiencing The Work Programme Mike but the WFIs were just a case of the nodding dog routine, once a month, for six months, and then once every six months.

Will individuals in either Group be means tested come April 2012 - at present in receipt of IB and shortly going onto ESA in the WRAG as opposed to the Support Group.

Hi,

For the 1st year it will not be means tested. After that, for those in WRAG, it will become means tested. Hence those who have more income/capital that the means testing permits will no longer receive ESA payment.

Do I assume from the last answer that if an individual is placed in the Support Group, they will not be Means tested then.
