medical being cancelld

just about to leave the house with my wife for medical assesment when we received a phone call from job centre plus atos,saying because the computers are playing up they were cancelling her appointment...25min before we were due to arrive at centre.after all the distress and worry they cancel just like that i thought we were going for a medical assesment not a computer game.....FUMING.....has this happend to any one else? if so, did you complain? :angry

This happened to my husband in April. We had actually arrived at the medical appointment when they told us the computers were down. He was extremely distressed and already in a lot of pain and I asked why someone had not contacted us to let us know not to turn up. Was told they had not had time the computers had only just gone down. We were told to wait in the waiting room to see if things resolved and whilst in there got talking to someone else who was waiting. He had been in there since 12 noon and it was by then 3.45 pm - so much for the computers "ONLY JUST GOING DOWN". After a 2 hour wait we were sent home with no apology and told they would send us another appointment. They duly did 2 weeks later which we had no choice but to attend even though it was not convenient. Incidentally there was also a women waiting the in the same area that had hers cancelled three times in two weeks!
We got told we could not complain as "It was beyond their ability to rectify it". So much for computers making people's lives easier.
On our experience you will probably now receive another appointment. Good luck. As this was only April, with my husband we thought we would then be ok for a while (the new forms/system which came in in March was already in place). Could not be more wrong. We received yet another ESA 50 form 2 weeks ago and now he has another medical to go through.
