When I claimed ESA the ATOS Doctor clearly told me "You're not going to get better in a hurry - if you ever do...". The Decision Maker at the time chose to disregard that part of the report, and put me in the Work Related group. When I claimed DLA which was refused and went to Appeal it was only then that I discovered that the Decision Maker had not only used the same medical report to base their decision (of refusal of Mobility component) on, they selectively used the bits in it where it looked like my mobility is better than it is - for example: I "go to the supermarket 3 times a week" - was the DM assuming it was Tesco's largest branch in the UK and I walked up and down every aisle? instead of I "go to the supermarket 2 times a week" - when in reality it's a small local branch and I sit on the seats behind the checkouts whilst my hubby does the shopping. Whilst I'm not saying that ATOS is usually 100% accurate, it isn't always the doctor's report that earns a refusal!
