canceling esa medical

hi all,
i was due to have my esa medical today, my carer (partner) myself and my friend (who was driving us to medical) were all set to go when the phone went it was atos !!! my partner answerd they asked for me, my partner explained who she was, the lady from atos asked if we were still coming to the medical, my partner said yes of course we were then the lady said that my medical had been cancaeled because the doctor doing the medical was actualy still on holiday!!!!. my partner asked the lady why did she ask if we were still coming to the medical then only to say it was cancelled? she said that if we were not coming for any reason she would then say we failed to attend the medical and would not have to say the doctor was not available and had been canceled. she said a new appointment would come in the post. i thought about this for a while, it is quit disgusting are they allowed to do this???. we could have already left for the medical, we have been panicing for weeks about this flaming medical, not only that but my friend actualy booked a day off of work for me so now he has lost a days wages as well for nothing. luckily he said he will do the same for me at my next medical. god bless the only friend i have. how are they allowed to get away with this, and how many times? has anybody else had this sort of treatment ?

This is awful, and especially with your very kind friend losing a days pay.

I would certainly consider complaining to ATOS re : the short notice of cancellation they gave you.

Further it is worse if you have made them aware that you needed your friend to accompany you to the face to face.

This happened to my wife a while back. We went all the way to the examination centre only to be told the doctor was off ill.

I asked why they didn't inform us, they said they had tried to contact us by phone, but they hadn't.

They did pay traveling expences thought, but it is the inconvenience and then all the stress waiting for a new appointment.

this is what happened to me on tues, they would not tell my husband on phoned saying they wanted to speak to me, they then explaines the computers were running slow, so was running 2hrs late, therefore not to come and would receive another appointment either by phone or letter, when i had put the phone down and explained to my husband, he pressed 1471 on the phone only to be told number withheld, he was fuming that they could do this at such short notice(25mins before due time)do they not understand the distress and anxiety that most of us have to go through with proccess....clearly not!!!!

sorry for my last post which was not allowed, sureley there must be something that can be done about these last minuite cancelations,especialy when doctors are still on holiday, sureley atos know when the doctors are not there. there is so much stress involved in these so-called assesments, not only the assesment but all the aggrovation involved in getting the doctors and specialists letters, no! the proof that there is actualy something seriuosly wrong with our bodies as well as filling in that (deleted) esa 50. we put up with all this form filling because we need this small amount of money to live,dont they realise that most people would rather be earning a good living if we were able to, it just that our bodies just wont let us. now i have got to wait yet again for the new medical date and go through all that stress again.
