DLA success with no medical

We work for Shelter Cymru's Valleys Inclusion Project in Wales. We provide support to client households who have been accused of anti-social behaviour, our aim being to address the underlying causes of the behaviour with clients and to reduce ASB and prevent eviction and exclusion.
We recently helped a client to apply for DLA using the Benefit and Work guide for applying on mental health grounds, which we found invaluable. The DLA forms were sent to the DWP on a Friday and a decision to award our client with the low rate mobility component was made the following Thursay! A three page supporting letter from our project was also included and a family member of our client also wrote a supporting letter. We're amazed at the speed of the decision and our client was thrilled to be awarded DLA as she has previously applied and was refused. Our client's doctor was not approached and no further supporting evidence was requested.
We would like to thank Benefits and Work for their helpful, detailed and user-friendly guides.
