Renewal of Fit Note

Could you please help me with the renewal date of my fit note.
I am currently appealing a decision that I am fit for work. My IB ended on 26 July. Two days before this, I submitted a fit note for 'two months'; this note was signed by my GP on 13 July, ( he was going on annual leave and that was the only appt. I could get).
When does my current fit note expire? Two months from the date of signing, or two months from the date of expiry of my IB? Is 'two months' two calendar months? Eg. two months from 26 July would be 26 September?
I am asking now as it may be two weeks before I can see my GP.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi YT,
Your "fit note" will cover you for two months from the date that your doctor "signed you off " as unfit for work.

Did your GP backdate the fitnote? It will run for 2 calendar months from the date on it.
He didn't backdate it; he dated it on the day he signed it, rather than forward-date it two weeks when my IB was due to expire.
So, it looks as if I need to hurry to get another appt. Effectively, I need an appt as near to the expiry date as possible, otherwise days are lost here and there, and the 'two months' becomes 'two months minus a couple of days'.

Hi YT,
If your new "fit note" (MED 3) overlaps the period covered by you present "fit note", you will not lose any days.
Please be aware that for the first 6 months, (if you require "fit notes" for that long), the maximum period that your G.P. can issue a "fit note" for, is 3 months.
After the initial 6 months, he can issue one to cover you for a longer period.

That is a perfect summary of my original reason for posting. Effectively, my first MED3-the current one-overlapped my IB entitlement by 13 days. It was dated 13 days before the last payment of IB was due. So does the first MED3 overlap my IB entitlement, giving me two months from the date of my last IB payment, or do I 'lose' the 13 days where it is signed before IB expiry?
Date of Signing: 13 July.
Date of Last IB Payment: 26 July.
Next MED3 due 13 Sep. or 26 Sep.?
Many thanks.
