You can't help beginning to suspect that they deliberately keep the information minimal so we remain in the dark and find it more difficult to mount an effective and reasoned appeal! Congratulations tho' on getting the S/G decision for your husband. Hope the reassessment in 2014 goes well and isn't too stressful.

Crikey! I used the recommended form of words from the B&W guide, asking for all the scoresheets, exchanges of correspondence, etc so I was expecting a bit more than a single form - and one which only says which descriptors don't (in their opinion) apply, with nothing to indicate where they did in fact award us some points. Oh well, I guess we just have to approach the appeal tribunal as if starting from scratch and make the case for the S/G all over again. It's very odd tho' that an appeal is strictly speaking a challenge of a decision - and yet there appears to be no written evidence of how that decision was made. When i worked for Govt we'd never have dared not to have a proper paper trail and a full record of reasons for decisions - we were always conscious of the threat of judicial review. Pleased to say the only time we were taken to review the judge was very complimentary about the thoroughness of our paperwork and rationale. Shame i don't work for the DWP!

If the ESA85A only mentions the descriptors you did not meet, have you checked which ones are not mentioned, and whether they are consistent with where you expected to score points.
Unfortunately, the lack of proper documentation has been a discussion topic for the 2+ years I have been moderating.

Ultimately you need to do this anyway, as it is the only way to win your Tribunal.... I guess we just have to approach the appeal tribunal as if starting from scratch and make the case for the S/G all over again ...

Thank you vry much for your kind words of comfort. I must say that the true success of my husband getting S/G status was due to the fantastic guide of B/W and the greatly appreciated moderators, who really helped me through my time of need.
