When to make an ESA claim was created by Leofwen
Please can you advise hen to make n ES claim I am on. Fixed term contract which I don't ish to renew as I'm struggling to continue or king due to symptoms and fatigue ( have a spinal cord tumour and a disc bulge in the lumbar spine).
I have struggled for lat couple of months as I need to earn, however I did not know I could potentially claim allowance and have put in for DLA.
If my contract ends at the end of July, when do I need to apply for ESA. Also, can you claim DLA and ESA at the same time.
In the meantime I now am the proud owner of a blue badge!

You normally cannot apply for ESA while you are still working and specifically while you are entitled to SSP.
You should be able to make a claim from when your SSP ends, or if you are not eligible, from when you stop work, providing your GP provides a Fit Note.

I started the claim process a few weeks before my employment ended, I was asked when my last working day would be and ESA was dated from the next day.

Hi L,
When applicable, taking into account the other Mods comments, you can make a claim using the ESA 1 Form from here :
