From DLA to PIP was created by Suzanne
Just to say a huge thanks to benefits and Work for their wonderful guides, such practical, relevant and professional advice. I was on higher rate for mobility and lower for care, I came out with standard for both on PIP. And that is I think where I should be, with an award until 2022. It was a scary and horrid process to go through but I must congratulate Atos on a very professional service all round for my assessment, I could not fault them, they have really worked hard to up their game! Many thanks again Suzanne

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi I'm still waiting for the dreaded brown envelope to come as I'm still on indefinite DLA and haven't been called about changing to PIP.Do you think I should contact them or just wait for the letter. Also when do they intend to be completely changed over to PIP?

Claimants are being chosen at random so there is no way to pre-empt when you will be invited, the intention is to complete the process by the end of next year, but given the fact that the ESA migration is running two years behind schedule I think it likely that it may be at least a year later.
Whether to "self select" is a decision only you can make. The criteria for PIP are very different from DLA and have been engineered to reduce the disability budget by at least 20%, so a lot of DLA claimants are seeing reduced awards or even no award at all, you would need to be certain that you would receive the same award under PIP for it to make sense for you to do this.
Have a look at the PIP Claim guide for more information.

Hi Lezray
I too decided to wait having been on indefinite DLA for 16 years, but my time has come and am now waiting for the decision. Knowing that it's inevitable that an invite to claim PIP will arrive out of the blue I made sure that I spent a lot of time reading this site and thinking about wording my answers in advance. When the invite comes it still gives many the chills so that they can't think straight, better to do it whilst the pressure is off.
