So sorry at this nightmare you're having, but please don't give up hope of a home assessment. I was eventually given one for a PIP assessment and am due for a home assessment for ESA review though don't have the date/time yet. The terminally ill thing has not been said to me by any benefits staff.

Am sending you best wishes, strength and the will to press for a home assessment, though ideally I hope your doctor intervenes and clears this mess up for you. B)

After an awful 2 weeks I received some better news yesterday, my doctor faxed a letter to dwp a couple of weeks ago, stating that he strongly advised them that I should not be reassessed and that they have seen me at the failed assessment 2 weeks ago. A nurse from the medical assessment team phoned yesterday to advise my family that she had reviewed my case together with all medical evidence and she had also phoned my GP because she was so concerned for my health and safety and she is now sending my file back to the decision maker to advise that I should continue on ESA without an assessment, I feel a little more relived but I am now just waiting for the brown envelope. I would be grateful if someone could advise me how and when I can get a copy of the ESA85a report. I have been advised numerous times over the past 7 years that I should also be in receipt of PIP but I just haven't had the strength to go complete a claim, but some of my family members want to help me to put in a claim. If I do decide to put in a claim can I use the same evidence as my ESA claim and also a copy of the ESA 85a. Thanks so much for any advice

UNCLE M

Glad to hear that they have done a paper assessment.

You can request the ESA85A as soon as your receive notification on the Decision by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

If you intend to use the ESA report to assist with a PIP claim then it is important that you make good reference to it in your PIP2 claim form, although many of the activities for the two benefits appear to be similar, they are often quite different, so you need to ensure that the right parts of the ESA report are read.

Update, i received the dreaded brown envelope today and have been placed in the support group. I just want to thank all the moderators of this wonderful site for all your help and advice and it is no exaggeration for me to say that you have also played a part in saving my life recently. I now need to find the strength to complete my pip form. I have sent a SAR to dwp a few days ago, and would be grateful if someone could tell me if they will send all the information about how the decision maker came to his decision and what he gave me points for, thank you in advance.

That's great news UNCLE M! Thanks for letting us know and for your very kind words about B+W :)

As long as you asked for ESA records up to the current time, you will get all the paperwork associated with this decision.

Sorry to hear that you have to go through the PIP process too - many of us seem to have caught the 'double whammy' this year! :(
