Mandatory reconsideration? was created by Ann
Hello everyone, this is my first post and I'm not too sure of my way around the site as yet. I was notified today that I have been awarded Standard care and enhanced mobility ( following renewal from DLA, for which I had previously received middle rate care and higher mobility). I followed the advice in the guides, so many, many thanks. My problem is that the DWP person told me I was only one point off enhanced care , and said that " though I really shouldn't say" , advised me to think about a mandatory reconsideration. I have yet to receive the letter detailing the points etc. Is it wise to ask for an M.R.? Could I lose out in any way if I do so? I'm not sure I could cope with more mounds of paperwork etc. any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

It's a Decision only you can make!

Despite having been told what you have scored on the phone you really need to wait for the Decision Letter to see what you have actually been awarded.

You need to look at what you have scored to see whether you can realistically gain the extra points for an Enhanced Daily Living award, you also need to consider the possibility of losing points as well, it does not happen very often but it does happened.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thank you very much for your reply. I've familiarised myself with the site a little more, so will take on board some of the information already available on this subject that I had previously overlooked.I just wanted to add that I did anticipate that I might get the enhanced award as my conditions have deteriorated significantly over the last 12 months. I sent many supporting documents from my consultants/ physio detailing this. I will wait for the letter to arrive and give it some serious consideration. As you stated ,I suspected it would be possible to lose points too and that's what worried me. I know there are no easy answers to this, and that it's my decision alone, but just being able to tell someone my thoughts has been invaluable. Thanks again.
