Hello, I had pip medical last week, I have depression and phychosis, past stroke, and I have been refused the care componate I have been advised to ask for mandororty reconsisderation, my carer came with me, and was told to shut up by the assessor, forgive my spelling, any advice be helpful thankyou

I'm sorry you are going through this I must say that DWP have moved very quickly if you had your face2face assessment only last week and have a decision already!

If you are not happy with your award the only way you can challenge it is via a Mandatory Reconsideration. This must be quested within one month of the date on the decision letter to the DWP address that you sent your form in to.

Our PIP guide is a good place to start. It explains in detail the criteria against which you are being assessed, how to explain your difficulties in terms the DWP understand and also the MR process.

I am sorry you were treated so badly. this is not unusual and its best to fight back.

The Mandatory Reconsideration is the first thing to do using the guides Mrs Hurtyback
has suggested. Its helpful if you can get more medical evidence to support your claim addressing the

INDIVIDUAL QUESTIONS on PIPS form, get your health workers GP to answer the QUESTIONS with the Tick Boxes.

DO NOT GET involved arguing about stuff the DWP or assessor has said stick to the questions and drive them home with evidence.

HOWEVER this is date sensitive and I would get this done ASAP.

Then if they do not overturn their decision which is often the case you can launch an APPEAL not as hard as it sounds, but that must be done within 28 days of the MR result.
Then the decision would NOT be made by the DWP but by the panel at the tribunal and in general most appeals are successful with supporting evidence.

Hi, I went for a medical yesterday and I found the whole episode degrading. The examiner was very matter of fact about the questions and I felt that she didnt want to go into details.
I am not holding much hope on the decision. The medical was by Capita in Birmingham city centre, I will keep everyone posted on the outcome. I will keep fighting through the pain.

Hello we have called dwp for mandortory reconsideration on Wednesday 17 nov, they said they would call back within 5 days, well we have heard nothing off them, but this morning a letter arrived sayin they had tried to call but had no answer, the phone has a voicemail on, there was no voicemail, and no new or unknown tel numbers, so they have not called, we called them again and are waiting for a call back, so we have written to them, and hopefully they will receive it, I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems thanks
