from DLA to PIP, where to start? was created by kotenok
Dear all, received letter asking me if i want to move to PIP (if i have a choice) i need to claim over the phone.
I've been searching the forum, but due to my conditions cannot fully concentrate for long time,i'm sure this has been asked a million times before and do apologize for annoyance, but where to start, what to do, please advise!
Many thanks.

What is better- to let them use DLA/ESA claim+evidence and descriptions of conditions, when they ask in the initial phone call for pip if you want them to use information from your DLA claim even if it was a few years ago and the descriptors have changed for PIP
is it better to say no don't use info from dla claim?
Nothing changed much since the last DLA, only worsened...( plus my GP retired and the new one even refuses to give regular medications and mentioned that he doesn't want me in his care...)
Are many claimants prefer not to allow to use DLA data if yes, why?
And if one say yes, what is the process then, how does this work, do we still need to complete all the forms and gather info?
What are the danger of going this way?
Can corrections be made if they get things wrong?
Thank you in advance.

This is something that you need to make a decision on, all we can do is explain the issues.

First of all it is only your previous DLA evidence that you will be asked about, they may use reports from your ESA claim, but they are not required to, our advice would be to include the information yourself when you return the PIP2 (see below).

As to the DLA, there are two issues you need to consider, the latter is applicable to your ESA information as well.

First, how old is the DLA information and is it still relevant to your conditions as they are now? If it is new and still relevant then it is something to consider including, if old and out of date, then perhaps not. If it falls in the middle then look at what other information you have available to support it.

The second issue is relevance to PIP, the assessment criteria for DLA (and to a slightly lesser extent ESA) are significantly different from PIP, DLA looks at the amount of care the claimant needs and PIP looks at the severity of their problems! So does the DLA evidence address the PIP activities, if it doesn't the you may dilute your claim by including evidence that is not relevant.

Hello, i have had a look at PIP guide and i am confused...
Can someone explain, please, and please forgive my stupidity...
1) how much time do we have from the initial invitation letter(letter says call before 8th of May) and from that phone call to complete and send all the forms?

2) I couldn't find the questions which will be asked in the phone-claim, ( or is it that i did not understand that this is the questions where they ask for name, how do they pay, address and so on?) When we call , what do we need to say?

3) why is there PIP-1 and PIP-2? Which one to complete and send, if both which is first?
Thank you very much in advance.
