If you are claiming, in part due to your OCD, then you need to have a look at the way that you have described your problems, especially if you are using the reliability criteria.

I am guessing that two of the criteria in particular are relevant;

- to a necessary standard and appropriate standard
- In a timely manner

In particular with the latter, you need to show it would take you more than twice the time that a healthy person would.

I suspect, in the same way that claimants often have little understanding of distance and walking speed, assessors and DMs may not have a good understanding of the time that it takes them to perform tasks like washing and bathing and dressing and undressing. It may help if you can compare your times to your partners.

Dear Gordon,
For the washing and bathing activity I described on my PIP2 document that it takes me a very long time to wash due to formalised rituals which I have to follow, such as repetitive washing, scrubbing my body over and over again, which means it can take over two hours to get ready because I have to complete things in order and carry them out in a certain way and a certain number of times. I wash frequently and compulsively, having OCD affects my ability to wash reliably because it takes me longer than it would take a healthy person to complete, leaving me exhausted and unable to carry out other daily activities. If I feel that I have not done something right I have to start all over again, which leaves me fatigued. Help from another person would make things worse for me, as it would mean that I was not doing things in the way that I feel compelled to do them. I am like this all of the time with my OCD.

Do you think this answer was detailed enough Gordon, I appreciate your advice.
Thank you.

If you said a couple of hours (is this daily?) then I think it was detailed enough, if you said a very long time, then maybe not, your view of a "long time" may be different from a DMs!

As I said it needs to be rooted to the time that a healthy would take to do the same, so try and make some comparisons to your partner if you have one, of friends and family if you do not.

Dear Gordon,
I did say that it can take me over two hours and I also told them that I was like this all of the time with my OCD on the PIP2 document, my condition doesn't come and go and it leaves me feeling more anxious and depressed when it comes to starting activities because I know that it means doing them repetitively e.g counting, checking, repeating them, as well as obsessive thoughts.

Like you said before I will have to wait what the DM says in the decision and go from there.
If I am awarded for two years I will have to accept it as I understand I would be reviewed a year before the award ends. Then at that renewal I will try to explain better my conditions and the limitations that they have with the activities.

Thanks Gordon.

How long is the wait after receiving this letter does it take to receive the decision please.

Am still worried in case case manager doesn't go along with HP report.

Thanks.
