Everything seems to be going smoothly so far. DWP received my forms on 24th August and I have an assessment at home booked for 18th September. I was expecting a much longer wait than this but I am pleased I didn't have to fight for a home assessment.
Any tips for the assessment? I am worried they will try and trip me up.

Hi MrsB,

By arranging a home assessment, someone has recognised that you have a high degree of impairment, so that is a good start.

It is up to you which room the assessment is held in and who you have with you. You do not have to make any special arrangements, you don't even need to get dressed if you would not normally do so.

The assessor has the same rights as any other visitor to your home. They do not have the right to 'snoop' around the rest of your home - and nor have we ever heard of anyone wanting to do so!

There is a section towards the back of the PIP guide that explains what to expect on the day. Home assessments take the same form as those carried out anywhere else.

Thank you Mrs H. I'll be glad when it's all over. I have nothing to hide and my Mum and legal advocate will be here with me. I'm just anxious about the actual assessment.

FUMING.
So today was my home based assessment. Mum turned up at 9.30 to help me, legal advocate turned up at 10.30 and we waited......and waited.....and waited.
At 12 my advocate called ATOS who said my appointment wasn't until 27th September. They were soon told that the letter received clearly states today between 11 and 1. They then said that I was informed at 10.56 by phone that the appointment has been rescheduled. They were told that neither my mobile, nor house phone have rung. They then accused me of giving them the wrong mobile, but it was pointed out that on 8th September they had the correct details when I had to pass security with ATOS and DWP have correct details too as I have texts from them.
We were getting nowhere The assessment was not going to happen today. But the advocate is now dealing with her contacts at ATOS, a complaint is being raised, my MP has been informed and I am likely to now get a paper based assessment.
You couldn't make it up :(

Sorry to hear this, you are doing the right thing by making a complaint and updating your MP.
