Severe Disability Premium

Out of the blue I have received Form IS10 10/10; to be returned in 7 days. This says I may be entitled to extra money depending on my home/partner circumstances and is being sent because 'we need to check if your circumstances have changed' (they haven't). I have been in receipt of the highest care component of DLA for a number of years and (thanks in large part to the help of this site) was transferred into the ESA Support Group. I am not on Income Support. I have never claimed SDP or been sent this form before. Is this normal DWP practice? I am a bit wary as to why I have been sent this form now but am not sure if I should be. Thanks

You are correct, IS is not payed with ESA, it has been replaced with Income Related (IR) ESA.

ESA recipients that are entitled to IR ESA, may also be entitled to "Premiums"

Some claimants that are being paid Contribution Based (CB) ESA, may also be paid IR ESA top-ups, as they are entitled to "Premiums"

One would expect to have to fill in an ESA 3 Form, for financial assessment for entitlement to IR ESA.

You could ring up and query whether the IS10 has been sent out in error, or it may be best to simply fill it in and return it by the deadline.
