Any point ringing to chase? was created by Elphie
My daughter's pip assessment was seven weeks ago and we haven't had any result yet. I know it's taking around eight weeks at the moment but my question is, is there any point ringing up the DWP to see if it will speed things up? She is very distressed and anxious.
Also do they always send a text message before the letter?

I'm afraid your ringing won't speed anything up, they'll get to her file when they get to it.
There does not appear to be any consistency in the use of text messages so there is no guarantee that one would be sent when a Decision has been reached, even if one is sent, it won't say what the Decision is.

Thanks Gordon. We're now only a couple of days from the 8 week point and heard nothing. Is it the case that all claims are currently being dealt with within the 8 weeks or are some talking much longer?

The wait time has been increasing all year, it is possible that it is now more the eight weeks in some areas.
