UC/ Working tax credits question was created by Lizt11
I am slightly confused. I am on PIP. I had been told that I am entitled to working tax credits because of my PIP. I didn't manage to get the form in, in time though. since then my area has changed to a universal credits area. I am not entitled to universal credits as I am a part time student as well as work part time. A friend who is a welfare rights advisor said to reaply for working tax credits as I would still be entitled to them.
I eventually got hold of someone at HMRC this morning having had problems with their phone system. They stated that as I am in a UC area that the only way I would be able to aply for working tax credits was if I had 3 or more children which I don't.
Which is correct please.

We don't advise on Tax Credits so I am limited on the advice that I can offer but if you are in a UC Full Service area then the only way to make a new claim for Tax Credits is by making a claim for UC. Neither your being a part-time student or working part-time should prevent a new UC claim.
