Sent Pip renewal form maybe? was created by teganbach
I won at my PIP award tribunal and they gave me a 3-year award which is up this April. I struggle with anxiety and depression and the experience I had last time going through the process of form to award haunts me. I'm already dialled to 11 over potentially having to go back to tribunal.

At the start of January, I got the letter saying my award was coming to an end and to contact them if I needed to continue my claim which I did. Today the form arrived. I expected the AR1 form since I'm already a claimant but they have sent me the "how your disability affects you" form as though I'm starting from square one.

Is this correct?

Hi applecharlie

Yes it is correct, for claimants who win at a Tribunal they have to restart their claim from scratch (PIP2 form), although we do hear from claimants who have been sent a AR1 form.

Did you keep a copy of your original claims form? If you did then use it as a template but up date any relevent sections such as medication, conditions etc..

Did you request a copy of the assessors report when you previously claimed? If you did then take their comments into consideration when completing your new form and don't forget to use our guide.

Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for a better understanding of the criteria you will need to meet.

Thanks for getting back to me Gary.
Yes I kept everything - one advantage of the tribunal is that I got this mammoth pack with everything I had sent to the DWP and vice versus.

My assessors report was a joke. The only time she referenced the evidence I sent in was for my dyslexia. Even though she had all my other records. The rest of the time it was mostly a copy and paste job. When I did my MR, I specifically pointed out what evidence I had to support my claim so they would know what to look out for and even then nada.

Like last time I'm working my way through the PIP guide to complete the form but I won't deny that I'm a little stresspot. The medical help for my condition is limited. So since my last claim, I haven't really seen anyone beyond my GP and even then its just to review my meds. I explained why I wasn't receiving the ideal treatment for my condition last time (with evidence provided) but this was ignored by DWP.

For my tribunal, I had the assistance of Citizens Advice. My plan when renewal came was to call on them but with Covid the support they can offer is limited.

One question that comes to mind is since they are treating this as a new claim, will they review my past application and evidence? Since as I say, what new stuff I have is limited.

Shortage of recent medical evidence for ongoing conditions and ones where there is no further treatment known is always an issue. The usual thing is to include the old stuff pointing out very specifically that it is the most recent AND is STILL applicable because the condition and how it affects each specific activity or mobility descriptor has not altered, or has worsened but there is no further treatment even so. Our daughter got a re-award of her Enhanced on both late last year in this way.
Best wishes with the effort and for success. Denby

Hi applecharlie,
DWP often suggest that since you haven't visited the GP recently your condition isn't very bad, hence no PIP. Of course some conditions just need ongoing medication and not constant repeat visits to the doctor! However, since you are renewing your PIP it would be a good idea to visit your GP and mention you are redoing PIP and would the GP provide a report. Particularly if you have mobility issues or problems with any movements the Doctor can briefly examine you and then be able to make a report that is contemporaneous with the PIP form. If you see a physio, you could also get a report from them.Otherwise keeping a diary of the problems you have with your illness/disability is a really good idea. Do this for a week or so at the time you complete the form, then you will have another contemporaneous document about your health at the time of your renewal.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Did you send copies of records DWP already had?
I called them today to check if I need to do re-send it where it is still relevant and they said no, it will be on my files.

The other question I have is do I say where to find the supporting evidence as I go through the form? As I mentioned, my assessor's report last time was a joke and did not refer to any evidence I'd provided beyond my dyslexia assessment. So I'm thinking if I add a line saying "please refer to x for more details/supporting evidence", it'll connect the dots so to speak.
