PIP reward review lowered to standard rate! was created by mariashep
Dear all first of all I want to say thank you for this wonderful site and all it's information.
I received my I have looked at your award letter yesterday and I am so upset and disappointed.
They have lowered the daily living needs to standard rate from the higher rate and I scored 0 on mobility, despite worsening of conditions.
I had a telephone assessment with my husband present and involved. The HP was a nurse and seemed very knowledgeable on mental health issues and understanding. We had an in depth discussion on the managing your treatments question and it was made quite clear that there is no way I can manage my own medication. Also my husband has to monitor me for how my mental state is. I scored 0 on managing your treatments. How can that be fair. I scored 0 on mobility despite not being able to leave the house on my own.
It is hard to put into words how I am feeling at the moment it is bad enough trying to get by on a daily basis and then you are basically having someone tell you that you're not that bad!
I ended up phoning because I was so angry and upset, I wanted to see the HP report because I cannot believe that the person I had assessment with would have gone against what I and my husband said. Anyway it led me to doing what I think is the mandatory reconsideration? All done over the phone. I received a text after saying: You've asked us to look at our recent PIP decision .....this can take upto 10 weeks etc.....
I am sorry for the long post I just needed to vent and wanted to share my experience.
I think they know that I would not be strong enough to go to appeal, I couldn't handle the stress I think it's just awful.
Thanks for reading

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Mush
I'm sorry that this was your experience. I know you have already put in for your MR, but I hope you asked for a copy of the assessment report to be sent to you. (PA4). This will tell you whether it was the nurse or the decision-maker who dropped your scores. It's certainly not unusual for people to think they have had an understanding assessor and then find out they have not got the award they expected. It will also provide you with more detail. I know you have given answers over the phone, but you may want to ring and add more once you see the report.
