Pip have informed my wife that they have received the medical report from the practitioners assessment and we have to wait 8 weeks before get back to us approximately, can we ask for the medical report before pip make the decision, or do we have to wait till the decision is made before we have access to the report?

Thanks Rob

Hi Spasm

You don't have to wait for the decision. Ring up and ask for a copy of the PA4. Occasionally people are told they can't have it until after the decision. If they say that, it's usually not worth arguing about just put the phone down and ring again and get someone who knows what they are talking about. Plenty of the members here have got theirs a week to ten days after the assessment.

Thank you very much for your information my wife phoned the pip department this morning they said she had a right to having the form however the form would not be the final decision is better not to have the form before the decision it has been made however we still requested the form, as we found if we needed to appeal the decision we would not have to wait for the form before we appealed.

Hi spasm

Well done for sticking to your guns, we have heard that story quite often on the form, I wonder if it is the same person telling claimants that the form is not the final decision and to wait until they have a decision. I don't understand the logic in that arguement as the assessors assessment cannot be changed no matter what the decision maker makes.

We know it is not the final decision which is why we always advise claimants to ask for a copy as soon as they can and not to be put off from requesting a copy. What the assessment report gives you is the likely hood of being awarded or denied the claim so you can try and pre-empt the decision.

Hi Group
my wife got awarded enhanced care and mobility, all back pay has been put into our account.

I have not received the medical report yet still waiting, I disagree on the point she has been awarded I feel she should have been awarded another term for mobility and and another 8 for care, the award has been given for 3 years is it better I let things be this is my thinking.

I also would like to say the decision was made 4 weeks after the telephone assessment so things are starting to speed up or at least they are starting to speed up where I am.

Thanks to everybody running this site it helps us all out a lot my wife didn't fill out the form it was her psychiatric social worker shoes expecting to go to court with my wife to appeal the decision I think my wife would have had a better reward we would have used the keywords from this site.

However I still think it is better to keep to the award of in giving we have enhanced on both so there's probably better not to rock the boat because we wouldn't gain anything by doing that.

What are your thoughts

Thanks in advance.
