Fixed term PIP ending. Told to reapply was created by BingoBill
Hello,
Just wondered if it's normal to have to reapply for PIP, once your term ends? I thought I would get a review form, but got a new claim form instead. My claim has been extended for a few months whilst I have my assessment, and they look at it again.
Thanks

Hi BingoBill
Was your current award given to you by the DWP or was it given by a Tribunal? If it was by a Tribunal you definitely have to reapply for PIP. Most other claimants get sent a review form, but it does depend on what it said on your last award letter and there are others facing the same position. You can always ring and ask and it should be explained to you.

It was awarded at a tribunal. Got zero points after my assessment.
I recently had a telephone assessment - it went terribly.
I am currently having nightmares about it every night and can't stop worrying.
It's so bad I'm feeling constantly sick!

Hi BingoBill
We have had quite a number of members in the same situation as yourself. Unfortunately when you win at a tribunal the tribunal award the benefit for a specific period of time, at the end of that period your claim will end.
Some claimants will get a renewal letter to claim PIP others get nothing. What we are saying to all claimants who win at a tribunal is to contact DWP 6 months before your claim ends and ask if they will be send you a re-newal form, they usually say no but not always, if they say no then you need to make a new claim.
The only difference between a re-view claim and a renewal is the form, on the re-view it asks if there has been any change. A renewal is done using a PIP2 form and is in effect a new claim.
If you kept a copy of your last claims form then use that as a template, if there has been any change then mention what has changed, don't forget to use our guides. There has been a new PIP form released so your old form may look slightly different from the new one.
There have been some changes to the PIP criteria since you were last assessed so please make use of the latest version of our PIP Claim guide

If you have any specific questions then please come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Dear BingoBill, as you had your phone assessment recently, please call them to request you PA4 report copy. If you get a refusal from the agent just end the call and try another one. This is the first stage in tackling them. When you get it it is a good idea to go through with a highlighter. Mark up all you are not happy with. Write ASAP to 'The Decision Maker' at DWP coldly taking apart all point-losing errors, omissions and twistings. Refer to your evidence so she/he has to read it for themselves and not take the assessors' word for it.
Doing this turned a mean report for our daughter into an Enhanced award so give it a go.
Best,
Denby

I have received a copy of my assessment and am writing a letter to challenge it.
I had to go to a tribunal last time - how long is the wait now?
