Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi BingoBill
Mandatory Reconsiderations are taking anywhere between 4 -16 weeks. It's almost impossible for us to give you an accurate timescale. Tribunals are taking up to a year, though in some areas of the country it might be a little shorter.

Just sorting the appeal now.
Is there a difference in success rate between face to face and video appeals?
Thanks

Hi BingoBill
70% of PIP tribunals are successful but I don't know of any figures splitting it by type. Video appeals only recently came into being so any figures probably don't mean that much.

Had my tribunal recently, the GP on the panel asked when my autism started. I then lost all confidence in the panel.

Hi BingoBill
There is no answer to that, How did you get on at the Tribunal?
If you were not successful, you will need to ask HMCTS for the Statement of Reasons AND the Record of Proceedings.

Oh BingoBill! How very awful. Can you contact HMCTS, copying in your MP, to complain that the GP was 'Not Fit for Purpose' as a panel member, as this is completely unacceptable ignorance. If they meant 'when did you get your diagnosis?' they should have managed to say that, and not what they did say.
I feel that you deserve a re-hearing, particularly if you do not get the right result. I do not know if there is any precedent for re-hearings if it is found after the event that the panel did not act properly. But those who come after you need to be protected from this ignorant person even if you do win. Complaint to the GMC is another avenue to check.
It reminds me of the tale that a claimant with Downs' Syndrome was asked at assessment how he caught it. I don't know if that did happen? Anyone corroborate?
Best wishes,
Denby
