GPs reporting phonecalls as Face to Face appointme

Is anyone else concerned that it has been noticed that some GPs are recording their patient phonecalls as Face to Face appointments?

I am concerned as this is an official medical record and, as such, must surely be accurate.

Does anyone know if these errors will be corrected? If DWP and other agencies want supporting evidence from applicants/claimants then these incorrect records will reflect, inaccurately, far more GP face to face contact than has actually taken place. If a claimant reports to an assessor, for example, that they have had no contact with a GP for some time then any evidence supplied by a GP's surgery may contradict the claimant's statement but the record is likely to be believed as it is the official, medical record.

I think this is a real cause for concern for the accuracy of patients' official medical records/histories.

Hi mermaidnwuk

You raise a very valid point, I was not aware that GP's record their phone calls as face to face, I will ask next time I receive one.

Have you raised this issue with your GP? If you have, what was the outcome?
