Awarded standard rate in both parts and scored 11 points in Daily Living in July 2021 (3 months ago)
Now if experiencing a new condition, what should you do and what is the process?
Will it mean an entire new claim or assessment?

Hi Jatt,
Is the new condition related to the previous ones or something entirely new and unrelated? For new claims you would need to show you have had the condition for 3 months and likely to continue for a further 9. I think the same rule applies for asking for an upgrade. Yours shouldn't be a new claim, but you will doubtless need to fill in a form and potentially attend an assessment.
Clearly if your condition has become worse you may be entitled to receive more PIP, but it will only happen if you can get more points. So for example your walking/general mobility may have become worse and more painful, but if eg you get still need help to get in the bath, even though it is more difficult you will still only receive the same points. Obviously if previously you needed eg an aid or appliance to help with bathing and now you need someone to physically help you, that would be an increase of points. Have a careful look at the activities and see if you can realistically score sufficient points to take you to 12 or more on either Daily Living or Mobility, or both. If you can, then it is worthwhile considering asking DWP too look again at your award level. You will need to phone them, assuming you have complied with the 3mth, and will satisfy 9 mth time period in the future. Then I would expect you will receive a form to fill out etc etc.
I hope this helps.

Everything else is the same, just one part of the Incontinence has changed. Would they call for an assessment or review the whole claim after just 3 months of getting it? The doctor confirms the condition is likely to last longer than 12 months

Hi Jatt
If you contact DWP to report a change of circumstances then they will look at your whole claim again not just the bit that has changed. Not all change of circumstances will result in getting higher awards.
