I am assisting my friend who has had lots of trauma in his life, his depression is really bad at the minute and he is Drinking to excess and cant stop, Should I mention this on the forms or will it go against him and prejudice his claim.

Hi Ryan,
You should definitely mention the alcoholism, as this is important. No doubt this co-relates with the depression. PIP is based on limitations caused by illness and or disability. Alcoholism is an illness so no reason nor to include this. Make sure you consider all the functional problems in relation to descriptor activities your friend has as a result of all conditions and give examples.
