New PIP Award Review - completely new document?

Hi Guys
Can I have a bit of advice to a newbie to this excellent site:

I'm confused... We are about to fill-in a PIP Award Review document. We've spent hours reviewing and updating the information in the 2016 PIP document only to find that this new document is completely different.

For instance, Section Three.1 Preparing food and cooking has three sections

Tell us if something has changed and approximately when;
Tell us how you manage this activity now, including the use of any aids that you need;
Tell us about any changes to the help you need or the help you get from another person.

These three questions are contained in three small boxes.

Is this the 'shape' of the new forms and is there a guide to filling it in available on this site?

Thanks in advance for any advice and information.

Pat

Hello Pat and welcome to the forum.

The form you filled in back in 2016 was the form to apply for PIP and basically told them about the difficulties you were experiencing as a result of your conditions. The form you have just been sent is the review form which basically says we know what you told us back when you applied for PIP but we now want to know if anything has changed. So you are right, they are different forms because they have a different purpose. If you were starting off fresh now and making a first application for PIP you would be sent a form which is similiar to the one you dealt with back in 2016, although it has changed a bit, which is why you see referrences to the new PIP form.

Fortunately we do have guidance on how to tackle the form you have just been sent

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants

click on the first link - guide to PIP claims and reviews and then select the first link if you have been asked to complete it online and second link if you have been sent a paper form. (Unfortunately you can't choose which type you prefer.)

At the start of the booklet you will find an index, scroll through until nearly the end and you will find the section on PIP reviews.

I hope that makes sense! If you have a read through that section and then come back to us if you have any more questions.

A quick word of encouragement, the work you have already put in preparation for completing the form you will have been expecting to see has not been wasted - it will give you the material you need for the form you now have to complete.

I wish you success,
Catherine
