Inflation, Benefits - how will claimants be treate was created by kah22
I was listening to my local radio station (Northern Ireland) and the energy regulator has warned that prices of oil, gas could rise by plus 70 percent over the next number of months!
That set me to thinking about benefits, how and when they rise? Am I correct in thinking that somehow they are linked to inflation, and how does that work. I mean is there a certain time of the year for these increases are announced?
As someone in my 70’s I still continue to receive DLA but I was wondering also how disability benefits in general e.g DLA PIP are calculated?

Hi Kevin
Your question is outside the scope of the forum - but you can read what the government said back in February this year here
commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-9131/
Normally any increases happen in April

Also to add the CPI rate for this calculation stands at 3.1% over last years of 0.5%. But this government will try to give as little as possible?
