Age 15 DLA to PIP was created by Marie
My son is 16 in June. I'm dreading the move to PIP. He has been on high rate care, low rate mobility since age 6.
He is adopted, attachment difficulties, social communication difficulties and been seen regularly by the neurodisabiity Consultant for ADHD and mild learning difficulties and sleep (takes melatonin). He's been receiving support at school since he started age 4 (no EHCP but SEN support)
Has a scribe and extra time for GCSE's.
MAST have supported him twice for behavioral difficulties.
Does he have a chance for PIP?

Hi Marie

Nothing is certain about benefits but a lot of young people successful transfer from DLA to PIP. When you get the form, please take the time to look at our PIP guides. They give comprehensive information on how to fill out the form and will walk you through every stage.

When your son gets invited to apply for PIP, you should apply to be his appointee. It’s very straightforward and means that you can complete the application for him, speak to the DWP on his behalf and, worst case scenario, speak on his behalf at a tribunal. It also means that any money can be paid into an account for you to manage on his behalf.
