Hi All
I'm currenty working full time and havr a 1 yr old.
I returned to work full time after a year of maternity leave as was struggling financially but I am now struggling to managrewith work as well as childcare (am currently relying on whoever I can from family freinds to look after him but I know this can not continue and there is no routine for both him and I. He is also unsettled a lot of the tikes due to this).
I am a single parent and can not afford childcare as well as look after my home/son and suffer greatly due to my health conditions (Fibromyalgia, Pancreatic enzyme defficiency, IBD, Asthma, allergies).
I am really struggling and can barely function at present and my performance at work is affected which I recognise.
I have never claimed benefits, worked since the age og 18, now 40... apart from PIP which I do get for my heath conditions.
I am now considering reducing my hours to part time (which has also been discussed as an option by my Manager) however am worried re managing financially and being worse off.
If I reduce my hours to have my monthly wage will be around £800 after tax.
I am wanting to know if I can claim universal credit or any other benefit to make up for the hours I am unable to work. And if so, would it cover the money or most of what I will lose of I cut my hours.
I also pay rent every month.
I'm really im need of some advice of pointing the right direction where I can have some sort of assessment to clarify what I can received and how much as I a scaree to reduce my hours prior to knowing this.
The cost of everythinf rising has already madebit hard and I love my son more than anything but financially, it has increased my outgoings a lot as well as impacts on my health. Any spare time, I'm resting in bed.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Destiny,
Sorry your having such a tough time.
Your situation is quite complicated but if I were you, in the first instance, have a look at this link
benefits-calculator-2.turn2us.org.uk/
And complete the benefits calculator on line.
This should give some clarity. You can keep using the calculator with different figures for different scenarios. It should also tell you about benefits you may be able to claim.
Please have a go at this and feel free to come back afterwards with further questions.
Best wishes
Pete
