Just to let you know the outcome. We did rearrange the Xmas Eve appointment to one between Xmas and NY. Gave us time to be prepared, and thankyou to those that advised. Whilst driving on motorway on Xmas Eve the DWP called (at the original time that we cancelled). A courtesy call! We were shocked and ended the call as soon as we could.
Telephone assessment went ahead as planned. We did record it as advised. Clearly the person that interviewed was not medically qualified enough to understand anything about liver disease. knee replacement and other medical conditions. She was more interested in mental health. Questions came that we were not expecting:- School education/have you had a holiday/- my husband is 65. Matters about eye sight and DVLA - should he be driving. So do be aware that they can throw anything at you. The call lasted an hour. I did bring up recent additional evidence and read out a letter (think that fell on deaf ears)! We did not think that it went as well as it should have. At the end we were told that a decision would be 6-8 weeks. The decision came within 2 weeks with backdated money arriving in the bank. Standard mobility and standard care which has taken since July to come through. I expected enhanced rate care and standard mobility. I don't think it is worthwhile appealing but I will do my research and take it from there.
If it wasn't for this amazing forum, we probably would not have got anywhere. Is it worth the hassle -YES I strongly advise.

Forgot to mention the scores. He scored 11 daily living and 8 mobility. At least he gets a blue badge and car tax halved!
